ZAIA ENTERTAINMENT PRODUCTIONS is born right after the sale of my enterprise, J.I.Z, and of my french restaurant, Ratata Buffet Froid et Petits Plats, that has knnown four years of an incredible success. Ratata was the first step of my carrier as an entrepreneur in the U.S. I remember the great fear that I had of launching myself in restoration without any experience in the field and barely speaking english. But my common sense, my education, and my strong experience as a writer-director and producer of high-rated T.V shows in Paris, enabled me to out-grow this challenge despite the barrier of language and millions of other obstacles along the way. Thankfully, the fact that I had no experience in this field gave me the opportunity to do all the possible mistakes and therefore to gain at a maximum in this adventure. People in my entourage, my friends and family, my layers, the officers of immigration didn't understand the relation between Ratata and my artistic experience. For me it made sense because when I left Paris to pursue my dream of cinema in Hollywood, I was missing five things to create Z.E.P and therefore do to what I came here to do: First, I needed french food. When I expatriated myself to the U.S, I knew that the only thing that could make me give up and turn back was the lack of french food. Secondly, I needed to meet people. When I expatriated myself, I left my friends and family behind and because I came with my two year old daughter without money or a car, I didn't have the possibility to socialize and create the necessary network. Thirdly, when I expatriated myself I lost my language and my ability to express myself in all the artistic fields that I used to have in Paris. Fourthly, I needed to learn how business in the U.S worked. And to finish I needed the most important: confidence. Opening a french cafe-restaurant with an entertainment license therefore brought all these things to me. I was doing everything: remodeling, managing, cooking, accounting, serving, cleaning... and was singing the french classic repertoire every night. I was exhibiting artists, organizing musical events, private parties, screenings, charities etc... I imported french food and became the professional version of the chef that I already was at home. I was putting all my love in my authentic french food and was serving while singing. It became a huge success because there was a exchange between my customers who were seeking for authenticity, and me who could meet bright people without having to move. It was like open the doors of my house. That's why Ratata was so successful and was elected the best French cafe-restaurant in the Westside of Los Angeles. It was the most difficult job that I ever done because I could never rest and the only way breath was to sing. I would have never imagined how big a reward I would earn from this enterprise. I not only learned remodeling, business, the language, the laws, all the mistakes to avoid, but also how to sing better, encouraged by my customers-friend who gave me wings to fly by simply wanting me to do well. That's what is so fantastic and priceless about the U.S: people always encourage you! Above all, like a cherry on top and as though the Angels of this magic City of Dreamers wanted to push me, too, a few famous A-list personalities of the film Industry came to me and also encouraged me to write, create my music and produce my movies. Thanks to them, when I decided to sell my business, to move on to step two of my plan, and to create Zaïa Entertainment Productions, I had already started to produced my first ever song, produce my first movie in the U.S and started to write a feature film for Brad Pitt. Ratata got the best rates and reviews on yelp and like in the movie Baghdad Cafe, my customers became my family. All of them where present at the Landmark Theatre for the premiere of my movie "Aimer CQFD"! I sold Ratata and J.I.Z October 30th, 2013. Z.E.P was born November 1st, 2013. Nothing would have happened without my mom and without my daughter who gave me the strength to fly away, forever higher, forever farther and forever stronger. Every moment of my life, they reminded me to never give up on my dream. My daughter has been the mascot of Ratata and a big part of its success. As she grew, she naturally became my best professional partner. She is my assistant writer-director, my photographer, my translator, my cinematographer... But she, like the kids I've worked with and all the other ones who are and have been in my life remind me of what is essential for an artist: how to stay the kid that I am and how to love unconditionally to be able to share. The vocation of Z.E.P is to share with others by entertaining them. The goal of Z.E.P is to show the bright side of life, to remind us how beautiful, pleasant and fun life can be if we allow ourselves to be as free as the children that we are and that that is the way to be the best entrepreneur of our own happiness.
